Sorting By Tags in the Mac Finder

Using tags provides another useful way to sort the large number of files on our computer. In the Finder window, click on the sort menu option and select tags. This option works best when using icon view, especially if you have a large number of files.

The files for each tag will be placed in a row with the tag information at the top of the row.

If you have a large number of files, they probably won’t all appear in the row. Some of them will trail off the edge.

We can click on the “show all files” option to show all the files for a tag. The other rows of tags are still visible in the Finder window, but they have just been pushed down to make room for the files with this tag.

We can click “show less” to return to a row of files.
