Mac Finder Sidebar Icons

The Finder sidebar is a handy way to access commonly used folders. These folders include Applications, Desktop, Music, Pictures and Documents to list a few. We can customize this sidebar in a few ways.

First of all, we can move the sidebar folders up or down. In this example I have the folders icon appearing below the download folder.

I can move the download folder down and out of the way by clicking and dragging. I’ve moved the folder and placed it below the Pictures folder icon.

We can also change the size of these icons. The size of the icons is controlled through the system preferences. To change the icon size open your system preference by clicking the Apple icon in the top left corner and selecting System Preferences.

The menu provides three size options for the icons. I’ll select the large icon size option.

When I open a finder window, the icons in the sidebar will appear in the selected size option.
